odd shoes

In Hallowell Maine this summer i found these odd shoes at a thrift shop - made of wooden soles and designated as Fluevog shoes. having the shoe fetish i do i was intrigued. it seems these were some sort of prototype - with pencil marks, nails and very little stitching. i was tempted to purchase for the sheer novelty of them, but restrained myself - even though they were surprisingly comfortable...

new place

Yesterday was the first day of orientation for my new job as professor at Marlboro College. it's exciting to meet all my fellow faculty, but even better will be meeting the students next week and getting to work!

these big boys were spotted on I 40 westbound on the 13 of june. funny, 'cause when i mentioned them to a friend they saw some too, but in a totally different part of the country. What are they for?

I am intrigued by these double vases by Andrea Gill currently on exhibition at the Harvey Meadows Gallery in Aspen CO. I suspect the images don't do these pieces justice.
